EDINA, Minn.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Feb. 22, 2006–Universal Hospital Services, Inc., a leader in medical equipment lifecycle services, has achieved a major quality milestone by receiving ISO certification for its six “Centers of Excellence” (“COEs”), the Company’s flagship Service Centers.
Driven by stringent quality and regulatory demands of medical technology manufacturers, UHS embarked on a rigorous project in 2005 to refine and develop its Quality Management System, with the goal of attaining ISO certification by the end of 2005. In December 2005, UHS’ COEs were audited by BSi, the country’s largest ISO Registrar, against two ISO standards – ISO 9001: 2000-Quality Management Systems standard and ISO 13485:2003- the Medical Devices QMS standard. After a meticulous auditing process, UHS COEs were found to be in compliance with both standards and received official ISO Registration in January 2006. UHS’ COEs are located in Rockford, IL; Anaheim, CA; Dallas, TX; Naperville, IL; Atlanta, GA and Totowa, NJ.
“This outstanding achievement positions UHS to further expand its Lifecycle Services offerings to healthcare providers and medical technology manufacturers,” said Gary Blackford, President and CEO. “By delivering unsurpassed service excellence, UHS continues to validate its business hallmark: Service You Can Count On.”
